Nick Kokis
HUMAN
January 14 - February 21, 2001
Kokis is an emerging St. John's artist whose print work is a surreal
exploration of contemporary frustrations wound up in the complexity of human emotions. Kokis's images embody escapist
fantasizes that examine role and behavior. The images are satirical and dramatic from a humorous perspective depicting sexuality
from a fantastical world.
Kokis is interested in the power to move the viewer. His thematic choices consistently point to
humanism. He is preoccupied in the engagement of his art with the viewer in hopes that through contemplation of contemporary
society and values a debate will ensue about what it means to be human.
