Lose me, my love
August 5- September 19, 2001
I am interested in misunderstandings and mundane acts. I discovered at one point that art no longer interested me, instead I became more interested in life. I started making art that was boring and realized that it held my interest.
Prokop is interested in what happens when people lose each other, both physically and metaphorically. If two people lose one another in a crowded space, they are sure to reunite simply by yelling. It is this chance that she is interested in. The chance that two people who came somewhere together will lose each other and eventually reunite.
Lose me, my love is a two monitor video installation. Each monitor is placed in its own room at opposite ends of the gallery. On each monitor there is a person in a white room, running towards the camera and yelling the name of each other. One monitor shows a man and the other a woman. They are looking for each other with intensity, panic and passion. The occurrence is intense and dramatic, mocking the drama and insanity of love.
Prokop currently resides in Berlin, Germany.
